There is no official limit to how many photos, videos or GIFs you can post on Instagram.

There are various terms and conditions, and there are rules about how many hashtags you can use (30 per post), how many likes you can give (no more than 350 an hour) and even a limit to how many people you can follow (7,500), but no rulings on how many posts you’re allowed per day.

So perhaps instead of asking how many pictures can you post a day on Instagram, you should be asking, how many pictures should I be posting a day on Instagram? Or how can I maximize the content I’m posting, without appearing to post ‘too much’?

The Statistics Show

For optimum engagement, you should post between four to 10 pictures or videos a day.

Any more than this and you won’t see a drop in engagement, but you won’t see a boost either.

If your content is high quality and relevant you can post as many times a day as you want, as long as you’re maintaining the number every day.

The key point here is that inconsistent posting can cause a drop in engagement.

Utilize Instagram Stories

If you happen to have a lot of content for Instagram but feel like it’s too much to post to your regular feed, Stories can help you out.

Anything ‘extra’ can be added to your Stories, such as sneak peeks, behind-the-scenes photos, questions and answer sessions and anything that complements the content you have already on your feed.

You can add to your Stories as many times as you want throughout the day and when followers view them, they just appear one after the other in sequence.

If you’re working on a new project and want to document it, adding to your Stories throughout the day could be a better option than uploading it all to your regular feed.

What Is A Carousel Post?

A fairly recent addition to Instagram is the Carousel Post.

This enables users to upload 10 photos and videos in one go, and viewers can simply swipe the screen to view them all in a ‘carousel’ like manner.

The benefit to this is that if you want to post multiple photos and/or videos in one go, you don’t have to clog up your followers’ feeds by posting them all individually.

The first photo you use will be the cover for the whole carousel, so make sure this is your best shot. Y
ou can also edit and add filters to photos individually or chose one option for them all.

Individual editing will probably gain you more likes but if you’re short on time or always use the same filter, you do have the option to just add one for all and you’re good to go.

This can be a great way to showcase various aspects of the same thing if one picture isn’t doing the job on its own.

If you are an interior designer and you’ve been working on a new design for a living room, you might want to showcase all the different aspects of the room and not just the overall look.

A Carousel Post can be perfect for this type of thing because you can fit an overall view as well as nine other features in just one post.

This gives your followers more content but in a tidier way than posting 10 individual photos.

It’ll likely encourage more engagement too, as there is more to talk about than on an individual shot.

Although there are no limitations on how many pictures you can post a day on Instagram, there aren’t any benefits to posting over 10 times a day.

More creative ways such as using Stories or Carousel Posts allow you to engage with your audience in a different way and post more pictures a day without seeming to spam your followers’ feeds.
